The Licancabur is the most beautiful volcano in the area of \u200b\u200bSan Pedro de Atacama. Not only does it dominate the oasis itself with its perfect conical * soma, but it also captures the eyes and attention of all observers, as if an air of mystery were floating around them.<\/p>\n
The Licancabur is a special volcano: the view stops on its slopes in an instinctive way, hypnotizing us, making the memory of other volcanoes disappear for a moment.<\/p>\n
The Licancabur possesses one of the most abundant and well-studied ruins complexes of all the high altitude sanctuaries existing in Chile. Its mystical importance, according to Reinhard, was probably before the Incant.<\/p>\n
There is no absolute clarity about what kind of rituals were celebrated in the volcano. Being a very dry volcano, it seems unlikely that the reason for the ceremonies was fertility. The Licancabur hypothesis as a place of sun worship seems more reasonable.<\/p>\n
