Footprints of the Mapuche culture is a two-day program leaving the Curarrehue square.
Day 1
Visitors will receive the welcome and presentation of the program by the local guide in the Plaza de Cuarrehue. The group will travel 3 km by car to the Inaltuleufu Ruka stove, where they will participate in a Mapuche worldview talk. The project continues with the arrival of the Juan de Dios Ancamil Community in Maichín, to meet a traditional seed protector. They will also visit an agroecological orchard and travel an interpretive path of native forest, in which the native flora can be identified.
Lunch will be where Elisa, a famous cook and pastry chef from Curarrehue that integrates local products in her recipes. After lunch, visitors will arrive to Walüngmapu, on the banks of the Trankurra River, where they will participate in a practical workshop of traditional vegetable fiber or loom, taught by a community ñaña. After the workshop, a young palife will share the technique, history and values of the palín, an ancestral Mapuche game.
The day ends with the transfer to the house of a family in the community for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2
The day begins with a rich traditional Mapuche breakfast. The local guide will pick up visitors to tour the Villarrica National Park, between Araucarias forests and visiting the Quillelhue lagoon. Then they will go to an artisanal weaving workshop in front of an impressive view of Las Peinetas hill, where a textile craftswoman will show the work process with traditional loom and natural wool dyeing techniques.
By lunch the group will arrive at the Camilo Coñuequir Lloftonekul Mapuche community where they will be received with a meal based on traditional foods from the local culture. The program continues with a visit to an orchard of medicinal plants in Huitraco, where a renowned doctor from the area will give a workshop on the different uses of medicinal plants.
